The Art of Tea Towels
When you look at the functionality of a kitchen, one of the major components are towels. Whether you are washing dishes, cleaning your hands, baking, or decorating, a tea towel will definitely come in handy. They should be durable, absorbent, stylish, and easy to maintain. We are going to look into the use, make, and style of tea towels, and what you should be looking for when choosing the right towels for your kitchen.
Materials
If your kitchen linens are used anything like mine, they are put through the ringer. While designing our tea towels, I wanted to make sure they would stand the test of time. This meant choosing the best possible fabric, so there would be no concern about whether it would hold up through multiple washes, and uses.
Our Patterned tea towels are printed on a blend of cotton and linen fabric. We made sure to use all natural materials, making sure they would be durable, and could be washed over and over again while retaining their shape, and getting softer over time.
These towels are a blend of cotton and linen, and have been tested to ensure maximum absorbency. Liquids won’t just sit on top of the fabric, but will be soaked up in the fibers, making drying hands, and cleaning messes a breeze.
Style
At KHC, as important as the functionality of our products is, something that is equally important is how they look. A tea towel is an excellent addition to a kitchen or dining space that will be elevated, and add a matchless warmth year round, in any season. There are so many ways to use, and style our tea towels. No matter what the purpose, they will regularly be in use, and look really good! We release new designs for each of the seasons and holidays, so there will always be something to accent your kitchen decor. We create designs that are bright, fun, and colorful. If the style of your kitchen is more neutral, these will add the perfect pop of color.
Sustainability
Our towels are designed by Kayla, they are then printed at Spoonflower in the US. We only make small quantities of each design at a time to ensure we are being as waste free as possible. Kayla sews each one by hand, so you know who is making the products you are using. These can also be hand washed and hung to dry, which is great for a more natural look, and even better for the environment. So, skip the washer and dryer, and save energy.
Style Them Throughout Your Home
There are so many ways you can display your towels in the kitchen to showcase your personality, while also having them readily available for use. These are just a few ideas Kayla utilizes to approach design with tea towels in her home.
Hang it up
Hang it on a hook for easy access, and displaying. A great spot is by the kitchen window or by your pantry. This will make it easy to dry hands, or dishes.
Drape it
Drape it over your oven handle. Or use it for when you’re baking. It’s just right for covering dough that needs to rise before baking.
A Decorative Piece
Your coffee bar is a perfect place for decorating for the season. Lay it on the shelves to accentuate your coffee mugs, or for easy clean up. You can also use them for your dining room table scape, as a centerpiece item. Sometimes setting a table for a special occasion, or everyday can be a daunting process. Even if it is a small eating area you can use these as a way to liven up your dinner space. Not much is needed to bring some color, patterns, and different textures.
Care Instructions:
Wash your towels on the gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low until damp, and then hang to fully dry. Iron on medium heat with steam to remove any wrinkles. For a more worn, natural look, hand wash and hang dry.
No matter what the purpose or use, a tea towel can add so much to a room, or a home. They add just the right amount of color and texture to your cooking and dining spaces. Check out our selection of tea towels here. You can shop by collection, to bring all aspects of your home together.
